Therapy or treatment is that which serves as an equipment for a physician to maintain the equilibrium of disturbed dosha. In this point of view treatment methods are divided into three types i.e., Daivavyapasrayam (Spiritual therapy), Yuktivyapasrayam (Therapy based on reasoning) and Satvavajayam (Psychic therapy).
Daivavyapasrayam (Spiritual therapy)
Spirituality involves the recognition and acceptance of a God beyond our own intelligence and with whom we can have a relationship. This God can provide an experience of inspiration, joy, security, peace of mind, and guidance that goes beyond what is possible in the absence of the conviction that such a power exists. Spiritual healing is when energy is transmitted to the person who needs it. The treatment works on the body, mind and spirit, which are seen as one unit that must harmonize for good health.
Daivavyapasraya: through methods of propitiation of supernatural elements like:
- Mantras;
- Specially qualified medicinal stones and charms;
- Religious and auspicious practices of worship;
- Offerings to superhuman beings;
- Offerings to Fire-God by way of sacrifices;
- Services of vows;
- Donation to worthy men in atonement of the wrong done by the donor;
- Observance of fasts;
- Svastyayana i.e. invocation of favors of supernatural beings, through the medium of blessings solicited from worthy and pious human beings who are supposed to be mediators.
Satvavajayam (Psychic therapy)
"Therapeutic technique" that allegedly involves the channeling of "psychic energy" or "spiritual power" through the "healer" and into the patient. Alleged sources of such "energy" include oneself, God, and spirits. Common accompaniments to psychic healing include aura analysis, the laying on of hands, prayer, and massage. The word "psi" refers to:
(a) the alleged ability to become directly (nonsensorially) aware of past, present, and/or future events outside the body;
(b) psychokinesis; and
(c) phenomena ascribed to such abilities.
Sattvavijaya, it helps to control the desires for unnecessary worldly objectives, which are the cause of all types of mental worries. The Mental Svasthavrtta is a very important aspect not only in the case of an individual but also in that of public.
