Ashwagandha is a branched shrub with dull green leaves, greenish-yellow fruit, and red berries. The tuberous roots of the plant are used as medicine in Ayurveda. Ayurveda categorises Ashwagandha as a “rasayana,” for its rejuvenating effect on the entire body. In Sanskrit, “Ashwagandha” translates to “the smell of a horse,” which refers not only to its unique aroma but to its ability to help provide strength and endurance. While traditionally associated with men’s health, Ashwagandha offers benefits for both genders.
